Yesterday was the 4th of July and no better way to spend it than at the Liberty Music Festival. There was a beautiful parade and lots of wonderful vendors displaying their wares and also plenty of great food to eat. You could smell the aroma of fried dough throughout Main St. Very tempting !!! The whole event was organized so well. My hat is off to all that made this great event possible.
I was of course mainly down near the bandstand so I got to see many old friends from Access 23 TV on hand to help with the entertainment. Tonya Lynn Hall was strutting her stuff on stage in support of her new CD just released from Nashville. Mr.Phil did a few tunes for us and a very patriotic number, We Stand Tall . Josie Lou, the Country Girl did a great set of traditional country tunes for us. There was a nice couple sitting next to me who told me that they would love to hear some good old country music. Well Josie Lou didn't disappoint !!! When she started singing "Make the World Go Away" they appreciated it so much. Then we had Mark the Polka Man who is always entertaining with his diverse collection of material that always makes the crowd get up and dance.
Of course, the highlight of the show was the Carl Richards Band. Carl co-hosts the show "Keepin Country Strong" on Access 23 TV each week with Edwin "Benzee" Benz. Carl always loves to get the crowd involved in the fun, especially the kids. They all got the opportunity to be "musicians" on stage and they loved it. Carl was joined by Jeremy Langdale , who is a really great guitar player and vocalist. Jeremy really added to the performance. Jeremy can be seen in several places in the area. Go to his website "JeremyLangdale.com" for the latest schedule and information.
I hear there are already rumors that Carl and his band have been signed for next year's festival. Are you going??
